A good fit

De Barbaren fits entrepreneurs and small and medium businesses in Belgium that want an integrated branding partner covering strategy, visual identity and copywriting rather than a single deliverable. Its published case studies cover independent retail (a Ghent bicycle shop), hospitality (a long-running bar) and a newly opened wellness studio, pointing to a focus on physical, locally rooted businesses rather than software or enterprise buyers. The agency positions itself around storytelling and publishes its site in Dutch and English, suiting Flemish and international founders who want a hands-on studio rather than a large network agency.

Services

De Barbaren publishes service lines covering brand strategy and identity, copywriting and verbal identity, graphic design and print, photography, project and office management support, and digital design, including website builds delivered together with a supplier network of web developers, videographers and translators. Its case studies describe deliverables such as logo design, brand guidelines, packaging and retail signage, social media content direction, and booking-enabled websites with digital menus. The agency states its core team has around ten members.

Representative work

For Velomaat, a Ghent bicycle shop and social enterprise employing about 30 mechanics, De Barbaren built a full brand identity including a pedal-inspired logotype, a five-colour palette and brand guidelines for social media, web and print use. For Mosquito Coast, a Ghent bar operating since 1999, it delivered a rebrand under the line "Boundlessly Ghent," including a hand-drawn logo, window and merchandise design, menu templates, and a new website with a digital menu and table-booking system. For Studio Sintel, a hot-yoga and Pilates studio that opened in Ghent in 2026, it created a full identity system built around a cinder motif, plus branded merchandise and in-store signage tied to the studio's Art Nouveau storefront.

Notes

De Barbaren's public studio address is Begijnhoflaan 408, 9000 Ghent (VAT/company number BE 0705.847.422); public Belgian company records show the same registration number with a separate registered legal seat in Bruges, which is not presented on the public site and is not used as an address here. The company was founded in 2007. Its site is published in Dutch and English. Buyer contact runs through a general project-inquiry form at debarbaren.be/en/contact, which also branches into advice requests and job/internship interest within the same form.
